Each jurisdiction adopts a set of codes — often based on International Code Council models — and updates them periodically as new versions are published.
Code Compliance in Restoration
When repair work is performed on an older structure, the structure may contain elements that were code-compliant at the time of original construction but no longer meet current codes. Depending on the scope of repair and the AHJ's local policies, the permit may require upgrading some or all of those elements to current standards.
