The SureNail strip differentiates it from competitors by providing an engineered nailing target that reduces installation error. Duration STORM is designed for regions where enhanced wind resistance is needed beyond the standard product. Duration FLEX adds Class 4 impact resistance (UL 2218), targeting hail-prone markets like Texas, Colorado, and the Great Plains. At the premium tier, the Berkshire replicates natural slate with a heavy, thick profile; Woodcrest and Woodmoor replicate wood shake with dimensional layered profiles.

Warranty and Contractor Certification

A standard Duration shingle carries a limited lifetime warranty on the material. Upgrading to the Total Protection Roofing System, which requires Owens Corning underlayment, starter, hip and ridge, and ventilation products, activates enhanced warranty terms. Platinum Preferred Contractors can offer the Platinum Protection limited warranty, which includes workmanship coverage in addition to materials. As with all manufacturer warranties, the limited lifetime designation includes prorated periods and specific exclusion terms that homeowners should review carefully. The wind warranty requires compliance with Owens Corning's published installation instructions, including the nail count and placement specifications.
